Hello Friend. What was the hardest coding or playtesting experience you had to overcome while developing Deadline Delivery?

Anonymous

hello :) one that stands out to me was players on lower end computers having considerable performance spikes on maps with lots of npc cars. we ended up writing an engine level spline mesh generation / road bake system that casts a line trace down from the existing spline mesh and subdivides it based on road rotation, then the npc car rides that spline, no line traces on event tick! baked, in engine, no runtime calculations for the npc cars. we made an instagram reel about it because we were pulling our hair out trying to solve it https://www.instagram.com/p/DT3m6XNkuKs/

Hi James! Awesome website. What's your favorite part about your current job?

hello! the fact that I get to create what i love (video games!) with my two best friends. everything that i've worked on i think about the user and i think video games require a ton of user empathy and anticipating their every move. being able to provide for others what games have provided for me. basically everything :) thanks for asking
